Epazote is a plant with deep roots in Mesoamerican culture — its name comes from the Nahuatl epazotl, and it has been cultivated and used by the Aztec, Maya, and other indigenous peoples of Mexico and Central America for thousands of years, both as a culinary staple and as a plant of powerful spiritual significance. It is also used in banishing workings to drive out a specific person, influence, or energy from a home or life, and in warding preparations to keep what has been banished from returning.
