A Sacred Banner of the First Mambo
Handcrafted in the living tradition of Haitian Vodou, this ceremonial drapo (flag) is consecrated to Ayizan — the ancient and venerable lwa of the marketplace, initiation, and sacred knowledge. Known as the first Mambo, Ayizan is the guardian of the peristyle and the protector of all who serve the lwa. Her presence purifies, consecrates, and opens the way for sacred ceremony. She is called upon at the beginning of all important rituals, for she holds the keys to the mysteries.
Drapo are not mere decoration; they are living vessels, sewn with intention and adorned with sequins and beadwork to capture and reflect the light of the divine. This flag is carried in ceremony to call Ayizan forward, to purify the sacred space, and to honor the covenant between the living and the eldest of the Rada lwa.
